Getting there

From Haneda · by air

Limousine bus from Kagoshima Airport to the center (~40 min). No car needed.

From Fukuoka · by train

Shinkansen to Kagoshima-Chuo (~1h20m), walk to your hotel.

Day 1

Arrival & Sakurajima sunset

    Check in, city center

    Your one and only base for the whole trip.

  2. 16:30

    Sakurajima ferry & Yunohira

    First look at the volcano, glowing at dusk.

  3. 19:00

    Tenmonkan dinner

    Ease in with black pork and a cold beer.

Day 2

Sakurajima, all of it

  1. 09:00

    Island View loop

    Lava fields, foot baths, viewpoints — take your time.

  2. 14:00

    Sengan-en & Shoko Shuseikan

    Garden, history, and tea with the volcano behind it.

    Waterfront onsen

    Soak as the sun goes down.

Day 3

A little further: Ibusuki or Aira

    Pick your day trip

    Ibusuki sand baths (steam-warmed black sand) or Aira waterfalls & shrines.

  2. 15:00

    Slow afternoon

    Back to the city, a café, the covered shopping streets.

  3. 19:00

    Local izakaya

    Kibinago, satsuma-age, and shochu like a local.

Day 4

Slow morning & departure

  1. 09:30

    Morning market or park

    A gentle last walk, coffee, last souvenirs.

  2. 12:00

    Back to base

    Collect bags near the station.

  3. 14:00

    Depart

    Full, but never rushed.

Getting home

Limousine bus to the airport (~40 min) or Shinkansen from Kagoshima-Chuo. Allow 2.5h before a flight.
